About the Author
Hi. My name is Lisa Berlanga. Born and raised in Ceres, California, I'm 49, a single mother of 3 college kiddos, and the daughter of another single mom for 47 years.
I don't have writing experience. I’m not a literary editor, proofreader, or illustrator. I’m not a recording studio producer, sound producer, or publisher. I’m not a website designer or a content creator. I’m not in marketing or advertising. …, BUT I do have an experience that was so profound that I thought it could only be mine. …Turns out- I'm one of millions.
I’m a caregiver for a parent with dementia. And while I knew I wasn’t the only one in that position, I thought I was the only one in this position with the struggles I was facing.
Now I have passion. So much passion, I learned not only to crawl out of my own experience to overcome, but I also developed a drive to try my best to learn all those roles to create this book and this website store.
Now I am an author with my very first book, Dementia in the Raw Confessions of a Caregiver UNCENSORED, available in 3 formats: hard copy, audiobook, and E-book.
I wrote and recorded, edited, produced, sound-engineered, and published them. Soon, all 3 formats will be available on this site, which I also made. They might not be perfect, but I did all of that on my own, at home, and while still caring for my mom.
The cherry on top: I'm now an advocate for caregivers, too. I hope my message comes across despite any mistakes in producing it.
My goal is to light this fire and expose the weight and help bring validation and solutions to as many caregivers and homes as possible. I may not have all the answers, but I have mine, the ones that worked for me to share. So that’s a start.
I have more plans for my fellow caregivers, future caregivers, and the home health care community. I’m hopeful that along this new journey I’m on, I will meet others like me who will help me build on this snowball that will one day become an avalanche impact of support.
